Finished Ruffled Hem Button Front Dress

A little while ago Taegan, Katie (insta @katieleeevansphotography) and I took a drive out to the lake near where I live. Something about that place just calms me down and makes my heart happy. So to get to go with these two amazing, talented, and beautiful ladies was really a dream come true.

Taegan was a beautiful model, and with sunset being my all time favorite time of day, I was so happy with how these cute photos turned out. She modeled the finished “Ruffled Hem Button Front Dress” for me and here are a few photos so you can see how this dress sews up.

I used an Ecru color embroidered linen with dark red/brown stained wooden buttons I found at Hobby Lobby in bulk with other beatiful buttons I can use on other projects.

Because I would love to leave you with a useful tidbit of sewing related info, I will share I used a fusible weft interfacing on the facing pieces. If you haven’t yet tried fusible weft, you need to!! It’s amazing with the same iron on adhesive as stiffer cheaper felted options, weft has great drape and movement, allowing it to stabilize without stiffening and leaving a more tailored professional result.

Fusible weft, (or a similar option of trico knit interfacing) may be more expensive than a more easily accessible non-woven fusible option. However depending on the project, I think the finished results are so much more desirable and will help any piece look and last longer, so it’s worth it in the end.

Also, I am so excited, I will soon be asking for pattern testers and releasing another version of this pattern, with longer sleeves, a slightly longer skirt length and a couple of other fun added details. I just have to thank you for reading, and following as I design.

There is just something about sharing creations and seeing them make others happy that really makes being a creative such a rewarding experience. So thank you, thank you to all who enjoy following along as I share my fashion illustrations and designs. It really does mean so much, and I often wonder how I get so lucky to have others enjoy the process with me.
